Digital cameras make long shutter shots so easy and fun. The view screen gives you instant feedback so you can adjust the exposure time as necessary. I really should pack my mini-tripod in my laptop bag for a little extra versatility. I couldn't get quite the angles I wanted for some of the shots because I the camera would fall over when the ledge was too steep.

For extra long shutter times I zoom all the way in and use ISO 50. I also use the two second delay timer to allow the camera to stabilize after releasing the shutter button.
